Health Department’s FREE Program to Help You Stop Smoking

Latest News

If your New Year’s Resolution includes quitting smoking or tobacco use, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department’s Community Cessation Initiative is ready to help!
Quitting tobacco use is hard, but it’s one of the best things you can do for your health. “In Lucas County, almost 80,000 adults smoke,” stated Toledo-Lucas County Health Commissioner, Eric Zgodzinski. “On a positive note, if you stop smoking, your body will heal itself and repair the damage. In fact, your blood pressure will return to normal within 20 minutes and after 3 months, your lungs will function normal again.”

Studies have shown that smokers are significantly more likely to be successful in their quit attempt with a plan; support such as nicotine replacement therapy (the patch, gum, etc.); and with cessation counseling. The Community Cessation Initiative, CCI, can help. The service is free and offers incentives. To get connected with free help, call CCI at 419-213-4558 or visit our website at https://lucascountyhealth.com/tobacco-cessation-prevention/tobacco-cessation/

Commissioner Zgodzinski states, “The sooner you quit smoking, the better! The New Year is a great time to start.”
