The mission of the Northwest Ohio Family Connections is to prevent child abuse, support families, and strengthen communities across Northwest Ohio by developing a family friendly accessible information and referral network. Northwest Ohio Family Connections is a collaborative child abuse and prevention and family support project that serves 17 counties throughout Northwest Ohio, including Lucas County.
The 2001 – 2005 Strategic Plan identifies four priority areas. They are as follow:
- Priority 1 – Child Abuse Prevention
- Priority 2 – Information and Referral
- Priority 3 – Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment for Youth
- Priority 4 – Parent Involvement.
The Lucas County Family Council is the administrative agent for the project. The Lucas County Commissioners serve as the project’s fiscal agent. First Call for Help of Northwest Ohio houses the project.
